Hi, I'm Mark Martinez, owner, President, and Inventor of the Sackmaster2000. About 15 years ago I had an idea, and like most inventors, necessity plays a big part of innovation. Rule of Thumb, if you could make a hard job easier, Do It!

As a young man of 17, in 1979, one of my chores during the rainy season was to fill sandbags so the mud and the run off from the nearby hills and horse stables would not settle in our driveway. Every year my father would bring home or have delivered a load of sand & bags, so that we could protect our driveway and house from the muddy, sludgy mess. That's when I came up with the Sackmaster. By adding a forced opening to the bag I was able to scoop up the sand with one scoop. My first working tool was a square air vent with a couple of drawer handles attached, this crude rendition still saved me time and energy.

PRELIMINARY DESIGNS

We moved a couple years later and my sandbag filling days were over. A few years went by and now a grown up with a wife and two kids, I never thought that I would be trying to sell and build my scoop. But the El Niño storms started and I saw all the flooding, devastation and sandbagging going on. I knew I had to do something to help these people and others in their situation. I figured I could revise my scoop, help these people and possibly make a good living for my family.

WORKING PROTOTYPE

So I put my idea down on paper, made a prototype, and TRIED to get a patent. It's easier said than done when you have no capital. The scoop got put on the backburner for a couple more years. Older but wiser, I started working on the scoop again, this time I was successful at getting a patent. I redeveloped the scoop by making it longer and less boxy. By making the shovel shaft longer, it gives support to the bottom of the bag, giving it and you more stability and balance. Making it possible to fill the bag with one scoop. By rounding the corners and making it less boxy, it is easier to slip the bag over the shovelshaft that saves you time energy and quite possibly your home.

I hope my time, hard work, and perseverance pays off for you. Thank you for your time and interest in the Sackmaster2000, the patented one-man one-scoop sandbag shovel.

Sincerely,
Mr. Mark Martinez
